It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Michael Eugene Colbaugh, a cherished husband, father, Papaw, brother, and friend, who left us on March 18, 2025, at the age of 69. Born in Chattanooga, TN, on May 23, 1955, Michael lived a life filled with love, faith, and music that resonated deeply with all who had the privilege to know him.
Michael was a kind and welcoming soul, whose outgoing and charismatic nature drew people in like a warm embrace. He had a remarkable sense of humor that infused joy into everyday moments and endeared him to many. His passion for music was more than a hobby; it was an integral part of who he was. As a talented musician and worship leader, he touched countless lives with his songs and teachings, sharing his faith and joy through every note.
His proudest accomplishments included his role as a pastor, songwriter, musician, and teacher, where he dedicated his life to uplifting others and guiding them on their journeys. He was relentless in his efforts to help and encourage those around him, always putting the needs of others before his own.
Michael’s love for his family was truly unmatched. He was a wonderful husband to Lillian Colbaugh, and together, they shared many years of deep, unwavering love—a bond built on mutual respect, trust, and a lasting companionship that will forever be cherished by all who knew them. As a father to Hiddi (Derek), Michael Jr. (Heather), Noah (Melissa), Hannah (Bayson), Danielle (Josh), and Zachary (Jessica), his love knew no limits. He offered them steadfast support, guidance, and a profound sense of security that will never be forgotten. As Papaw, his heart swelled with pride for his 13 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, whom he loved beyond measure. Family gatherings were filled with laughter and music, creating timeless memories that will be treasured for years to come.
He also leaves behind his loving sister Linda McDaniel, and caring brother Jeff Colbaugh, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss him dearly. He is reunited in spirit with his parents, Clifford and Robbie Colbaugh.
Michael Eugene Colbaugh will be remembered not just for his accomplishments, but for the warmth he brought into the lives of others. His legacy of love, laughter, and faith will continue to shine brightly through the many lives he touched.
